Solicitor’s Permit

This permit (below) helps us protect the welfare of the residents of the City of Georgetown. We ask your cooperation in completing the application in full. All persons included in the permit application must have either a driver’s license OR a Social Security Number and a form of government-issued picture identification. If any information is missing, the City of Georgetown Police Services Division Records Specialist cannot issue the permit.

WHO NEEDS A PERMIT?
Any one interested in selling goods or services door-to-door or making any type of solicitation (e.g. for a charitable, non-profit, or political group) within the Georgetown City limits.

REQUIREMENTS:
An application form must be completed and signed by each person who will participate. A driver’s license or identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is mandatory. It will be necessary to obtain a criminal history check and be fingerprinted from Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin. Bring the finger print card (s) and any paper work attached with you. The application can be completed after receiving the clarification from DPS that there are no outstanding warrants against your license.

COST:
$15.00 for one individual; $25.00 for a group of two or more under the same permit.
If you are soliciting or peddling for a philanthropic, charitable, political, or religious organization, you are exempt from the fee.

WAITING PERIOD:
The Chief of Police or their designee will issue a permit within five (5) business days of receiving clearance from D.P.S. and the completed application.

EXPIRATION DATE:
Ninety (90) day (s) from date of issue.

GENERAL RULES:
Peddling and solicitation is only allowed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and sunset.
You are not allowed to approach any home or business that has a “No Soliciting” sign posted.

On the first business day of the next month(s) until the expiration of the permit, a representative will contact the Georgetown Police Department with any changes (personnel no longer working this area, vehicle changes, etc).

Only personnel listed on the initial permit will be allowed to solicit within the city limits of Georgetown. Any additional personnel not listed with the initial permit will be required to apply for a separate permit using the steps provided in the Solicitor’s Packet.
